Hooplaw is a one-day charity basketball tournament organized by the Vancouver legal community in conjunction with UBC law. It raises money for the Kenneth Gordon School for children with learning disabilities and Camp Moomba for children with HIV. In 2007 we raised approximately $55,000 and aim to do even better in 2009. Volunteers are critical and there are various, flexible volunteer positions available to accommodate anyone's schedule-from minimal commitment (i.e., day of the event) to more involved participation (i.e., Student Committee). Hooplaw is a fun way to contribute to the welfare of vulnerable children. As well, it is an invaluable opportunity to meet and network with many of the lawyers on the student committees of the big Vancouver firms in an informal setting.
