Ombudsperson

 

  • the LSS, SAC, AIC, or any other student group within the school;
  • the faculty or administration;
  • discrimination and harassment within the law school;
  • the summer article and articling process;
  • academic appeals;
  • exam schedule conflicts;
  • grade appeals; and
  • any matter deemed relevant by the Ombudsperson.

All complaints brought to the Ombudsperson remain CONFIDENTIAL. That is, the Ombudsperson may discuss your complaint with the individual/group you raise concerns about, however, your name is never disclosed to anyone.

How do I bring a complaint to the Ombudperson?
 
  1. Visit the Ombudperson during office hours: Thursdays from 12:30-1:30 in room 182 starting October 4, 2007
  2. Contact the Ombudsperson by email at ubclawombudsperson@hotmail.com. You can either include your complaint in the email or ask to set up a different time where you can meet to discuss your complaint.

The 2009/2010 Ombudsperson is Kimberley Fenwick, Law II.

The Ombudsperson has 2 main functions:

  1. Organizing the Legal Buddy Program, where 1st year students are matched to an upper-year Buddy to help them settle into the the law school.
